Am I being forced into an iPhone 4S???

If you have read even one of my posts, you know I my iPhone is permanently attached to my hand. You rarely see me without it.

I am constantly connected to:

Twitter
Google +
foursquare
Gowalla
etc… (see sidebar for full list)

That is until recently.

Within the last month, Gowalla has released a few updates. The first crashed every time I opened it on my iPhone 3G. I tweeted. They answered with a new update (I would love to think it was for ME, but…) that allowed me to continue checking in to my hearts content. Three days or so later another update leading to continuous crashes…

Recent updates to the foursquare app have not caused crashes, but run very slowly. Even worse, foursquare did not take the time to check their graphics. [see below] It takes longer for locations to load to the check-in button. I have even experienced issues of clicking on a location, waiting 10 to 15 seconds with no response, watching the location switch to some random one and opening that one…

Facebook – UGH!!! Simply loading the app causes my phone to heat up so badly I need to wear welding gloves to hold it!

Not to mention the multitudes of other apps I use(d) daily.

I cannot fully blame the app makers [maybe].

Has Apple pushed them into updating their apps so to they can be better suited whether graphically or by process for iOS 5 etc???

Before I get attacked for only having an iPhone 3G and still tossing anger toward all the lovely FREE apps that I am angry about, let me explain.

I bought my iPhones (got one for my lovely wife too) as well as their unlimited data plans, texting plans, cases etc. a mere 4 months before the iPhone 4 came out.

This was my first purchase of any Apple products. I was not versed in the ‘Apple puts out a new phone every June/July’ rule… I also bought the 3G over the 3GS because I did not feel (at the time) that native video and increased storage was worth the additional $100.

I am now eligible to upgrade our phones and I want to, but I cannot help but think that the reason I will be doing it will not be out of desire, but out of necessity.

I do not know when I will be able to cough up the $400 to purchase two new phones, but I hope it is before these two become complete and total paperweights. ::suggestively points to iPhone 4S donation section below::

Also, I know I do not have to stick with the iPhone, but I LIKE the iPhone. I am not one of those iPhone is the be-all-end-all freaks, it is just my personal preference. If you prefer Android based phones, or even Blackberry phones that is fine with me, you won’t here me complain.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Why pay for iPhone when you can get android phones that do the same if not more for a lot less ?

      • Greg,

        I prefer the iPhone.

I have used Blackberry (for work) and the Android based phones that my friends have and am just more partial to the iPhone. What I am not partial to is the fact that the app makers and quite possibly even Apple themselves are not taking into consideration that some of us might not be able to upgrade our phones as quickly as they can pump them out.
